2…The launch of “Heigh Ho, The Green Holly”, a new compilation on New Folk Records of holiday classics arranged with traditional Irish and Scottish music.

Featuring Laura MacKenzie (vocals, flutes, whistles, pipes, concertina) and Dáithí Sproule (guitar, vocals), with Andrea Stern (harp), Michael Bissonnette (percussion), Mary Vanorny (fiddle), and Danielle Enblom (fiddle and steps).

“MacKenzie maintains the magic” -- Sing Out!
“Wielding an array of whistles, pipes and concertina, she balances prodigious abilities with a maturity and overall expertise” -- fROOTS (U.K.)

Laura’s 2014 album “From Uig to Duluth” is a collection of Scots Gaelic music and song, sourced primarily from Duluth, Minnesota in 1937, newly arranged for this special project.

"Laura and her colleagues skillfully and subtly convey the songs’ essence with a gentle, light touch....it's easy to be won over by the creative flair of Laura's performances" -- The Living Tradition (Scotland/U.K.)

Guitarist/Singer Dáithí Sproule was a major collaborator with Laura on “From Uig to Duluth”, and also the Celtic holiday recordings, and is one of Irish and Scottish music’s most respected and celebrated accompanists, worldwide.

“One of Irish music’s greatest guitar accompanists” --Steve Winick, All Music Guide
“A seminal figure in Irish music” -- The Rough Guide to Irish Music

MacKenzie and Sproule will be joined by Andrea Stern on harp, also a contributor to “From Uig to Duluth” and “Heigh Ho, The Green Holly”, plus the spectacular Mary Vanorny on fiddle, the versatile and mighty Michael Bissonnette on percussion and the delightful, dynamic Danielle Enblom on fiddle and stepdancing.
