Irish Language Day at The Junction! For beginners to fluent speakers, join us for four fun and educational activities in recognition of the Bliain na Gaeilge 2018 (Year of Irish) created to celebrate the language and encourage the use of Irish in Ireland and abroad.

9-10:30am (8 weeks): Introduction to speaking the Irish language for young learners, April 7 - May 26

Children and young learners (between 12-18 years old) will learn to speak Irish in a structured yet immersive environment. They will learn to converse in Irish as they would in English on everyday topics such as discussing their favorite pastimes, school events, family vacations, sports, etc. The instructor will supply a booklet of exercises (for $10.00) and readings for students. 

Noon-12:45: Yoga with a Celtic Slant

FREE! With Tom Jeffers. Limber up, improve your sláinte (health) and pick up cúpla focal (a few basic words of Irish) while you stretch and move through the poses. For all ages and abilities. Bring a mat if you can!

3pm: Traditional Song Workshop with Irish Singer Máirín Uí Chéide 

$15 at the door.

Máirín will teach songs in both English and Irish (Irish Gaelic) languages. In addition to being a true tradition bearer from western County Galway, Máirín has extensive experience teaching Irish language and song regularly in Boston and is a favorite guest teacher at the Sean-nós Northwest Festival in Washington.

7:30pm: Concert with Irish Singer Máirín Uí Chéide

$10 advance, $15 at the door, youth 18 and younger free! TICKETS

An evening of Máirín's beautiful unaccompanied traditional singing with additional performances by local Singers Club regulars and others.
