MMC presents Celtic Rock Night, June 16

8pm show starts, 7:30 doors. Advance tickets $12, $15 at the door.

One night, three acts: Sweet Colleens, Leslie Rich, and the Tim Malloys in a powerhouse Celtic rock showcase.

The Sweet Colleens are Dave Bade, Jeff Gram, Jeremy Greenhouse, Scott Keever and Pete Sandvik— accomplished multi-instrumentalists who together fuse their diverse musical backgrounds into a high-energy, infectious, and crowd-pleasing mix of fiddle- and accordion- driven Celtic Americana. With rootsy original songs, warm vocal harmonies, and fiery instrumental arrangements, the Twin Cities-based Sweet Colleens have garnered a loyal following across the country.

Leslie Rich grew up in Belfast in the 70's, when it was the norm to have soldiers patrolling the streets and to be searched by a heavily armed police force just to go shopping downtown. During the years since emigrating to the US, Leslie has been the principal songwriter, guitarist and singer for bands like A Little Of The Ready, Celtic folk band Hounds Of Finn, and his own project, Leslie Rich & the Rocket Soul Choir.

Equal parts pub and punk, the Tim Malloys fuse traditional Irish music with a raucous Minneapolis sound and sensibility. They're a cornerstone of the Twin Cities Celtic crossover scene, with five records released since their 1994 inception. Their acoustic-on-fire guitar trio sound is flavored by the trad-rock songs made popular by a wide range of bands from The Pogues, Flogging Molly, or the Dropkick Murphys to Tom Waits, The Dubliners, etc. The Tim Malloys conjure up a bootlegger's dream of powerful guitar, manic grooves, and rollicking callbacks.
