Book Launch for Danny Who? Four Decades of Irish Music, Feb 17

Danny Who? Four Decades in Irish Music by Tom Dahill. (Celtic Collaborative Press, 2017).

This irreverent and witty memoir recounts the adventures of the storied and celebrated Minnesota showman and performer, Tom Dahill. Born in the Irish neighborhoods of St. Paul, he spends time in the workhouse, but eventually abandons mischief for music. Tom encounters a colorful cast of Irish musicians and characters in St. Paul, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, and all across Ireland as he masters the rich and vibrant traditions of Irish music and song.

Tom Dahill tours extensively across the U.S. and Ireland. Over the past four decades, he has contributed to the revival of interest in Irish music. He learned his craft directly from the practitioners of the arts of Irish music, handed down by word of mouth and caught by ear and memory. In his early years, he was befriended and mentored by some of the most notable Irish musicians, singers, writers, and storytellers, including Terrance Teahan, Paddy Hill, and Pat Flanagan. Tom appears regularly at many local venues including The Dubliner Pub and Café in St. Paul.
