About Our Collection
About the Eoin McKieran Library Collection
The Eoin McKiernan Library (EML) has over 3000 books searchable via our online catalog. All books are available for use within the library during open hours. In addition, we have a lending library of over 400 books (duplicates from our main collection) available for checkout.
The initial McKiernan Library donation was a miscellaneous “Irish-Studies” collection, partially assembled by Eoin McKiernan personally and partially consisting of books sent to McKiernan as “review” copies in his role as director of the Irish-American Cultural Institute and other organizations. McKiernan’s particular interests were Irish history, politics, and religion (emphasizing topics related to Irish political unity), the Irish language, Irish folklore, and the arts in Ireland.
Our current collection includes the McKiernan donation as well as addition donations from community members and organizations including Irish Genealogical Society International. We are working to grow our collection of books on the Irish Arts (especially music and dance) in hopes to better serve the Celtic Junction Arts Center community and the broader Irish Arts community of Minnesota. If you have books to donate, see our donations page.
